Pinewood Derby

The week arrived; the car design was selected; the special tool purchased; the cub scouts' pinewood derby was in a week. Brent crafted the car with attention to both style and speed. Let's not get into the reasons behind it (think his own boyhood derby where he didnt' win), but he was determined to make Bennett's car like lightning.

I realize this picture is terrible, but Bennett's car is the one ahead (second lane from the left). They won the necessary heats in order to proceed to the finals, but alas, didn't place in the finals.

But Bennett didn't care - his car was cool and fast and he spent the day with his daddy. And his cool daddy made his pinewood derby car into it's own trophy.

SnowDAY

Thanks DeDe for the awesome sled!! Who knew it would get used so soon.
Bennett and the neighbor boy still out (yes, it's almost dark, not just poor camera use) trying to build a snowman

what can you say about these but "cute!"

Well, school was out a couple of days and snow stayed through the weekend. We have no pictures of Emma on any of these days because we hardly saw her -- she was sledding all throughout the neighborhood with the other neighborhood kids. Every 3-5 hours I would call another parent to see when the last time any of that troop checked in for food or to thaw. All the parents saw this group of 3-10 kids at some point during the weekend. Our house was the hot chocolate house a couple of times and maybe the soup&sandwich house once. Glad the roads were passible so we could restock. : )
