our little world

In case we haven't shared this sentiment with you, we love our neighborhood. It's our own little world where, for the most part, things are as you'd want them. Yes, we have crime, and speeders, and litterbugs, but all of those things give us the opportunity to meet with neighbors for discussion or to teach the kids that cleaning up trash is the right thing to do. I received a phone call today from a gentleman who asked a few questions to make sure he had the right number. Well, it was Jim, our mailman. He said he had a package that wouldn't fit into the mailbox and since we didn't have a front door he wondered what we'd like for him to do with it. Now, when does that happen? Really, any other mail carrier would have left that orange note in the mailbox informing me that I'd have to go the post office and wait in the long line to get the package. And a few weeks ago, Doug, our UPS guy, signed for our package on a Friday because the road was closed for repaving and delivered it to us personally during the weekend. Nice, nice guys!!

Brent went to the house to retrieve the above mentioned package (a gift for me apparently!!) this evening and noted that our new french doors are waiting in the garage. I see more progress on the horizon.

hmmm, want to share what that little present might have been? :) Can't wait to see the progress in November!! I'm sure you will drag us all out there...hee hee! Your "people" sound great to have. Our mail guy can't even bother to walk up our steps when they are icy..he just throws our mail onto the snowy porch from the sidewalk and lets it get wet.
