September Update

The Boys' Room

Although Bish was still content to sleep in his crib, potty training wasn't going to happen if he couldn't get to the potty. Add to that Bennett wanting a larger bed and you end up with a room redo. Since they have our old master bedroom, it was large enough for two full size storage beds. The ole pocketbook was not used to outfitting two beds at once with full linens, so there was an initial sticker shock, but with most of the items on sale at Targ`et it wasn't too bad. The room is not decorated yet, so I'll post pictures again when we get lamps, wall hangings, etc.

Let's have a loud "Hooray" that everyone's school has finally started for the year! Here is Vay on her first day of preschool. We take a picture out front each year to see how much the children have grown - unfortunately I didn't think this one through all the way bc I should have been taking pictures since they started in the mom's day out instead of just 2 yrs of preschool. oh well.

Vay got her new Tinkerbell backpack this year, but was content to reuse her barbie lunchbox.

We have also completed all the Parent's Night/Meet the Teacher functions for the 3 children with that requirement. Can't wait - in three years they will at least all be in the same school system and maybe all at the same campus. I'm sure that will not alleviate the multiple Meet the Teacher functions, but it will hopefully all be on the same night (ok, that's a pipe dream bc there will be one HS, one MS, and 2 Elem).

For the Labor Day weekend we met my sister and her entire family at GreatWolf. We also did one day at the amusement park, but need to remember that this holiday weekend brings with it long lines. The kids still had fun bc they just love being together. And De and I had fun too bc we love getting to spend time in the vicinity of one another even if we can't always get a table for 12 or actually sit by one another or actually carry on any type of conversation from all of the "I'm hungry," "watch me," "buy me something," interruptions. : )

Ah, then the fun began; my bi-annual girls' scrapbooking weekend! It never fails that I mention I'm going out of town for my "girls' weekend" and people give the "OOHH!" with the raised eyebrow, etc. Then I have to correct their interpretation and explain that we spend the weekend in someone's basement scrapbooking and staying up too late. Yes, there's lots of good chit-chat and lots of peanut m&ms, but we're not out at chippendale's or anything like that. Yet. wink wink!! To be totally truthful, 3 1/2 yrs ago we started with a Friday night to Sunday using those days to travel as well. We quickly decided that was not enough time and that we were too exhausted on Sunday to safely drive back home any distance. So, we started coming into the hostess's town late Thursday night, then maybe a flight just a little earlier on Thursday until finally this time the hostess had to say she would be working until 1pm so we didn't arrive before she could get home. With only the Fri-Sun, we had hardly any time to get out of our pjs. With the addition of Thursday, we can easily accomodate dinner out or a lunch/brunch out or both or all three and still feel we have enough time to accomplish our scrapbook tasks. And we don't look so horrible in all our weekend pictures if we get up, shower, put on makeup, and go out first!

I know the other girls agree that for us to be this successful with our cross-country friendships it takes the love, support and giving spirit of our wonderful hubbies. Once again, we thank them for allowing us to remain friends that get together even though separated by many miles.

and the growing just doesn't stop.

Emma decided last week that she was ready for a "style" not a cut. She picked a cute hair style picture and we made an appointment. Her hair looks adorable! Then came a little makeup to go with the new hairstyle. She looks so grown up without a ponytail and with a little mascara.

She looks too grown up!! Do you let her wear mascara all the time to school or just on occasion? The weekend was FAB but holy crap the recuperating was a bitch!
