vacation-part 1

Have you ever tried to plan a vacation with multiple families? It is challenging to say the least, but then can be so rewarding once you get together. If you actually succeed.

Planning began back in the fall with the basic, "do we want to try to this vacation thing?" Because of Brent's vacation scheduling we ended up being either a big problem or making things much easier to plan because we have very limited options. We made our plans and bought plane tickets back in October. JMc agreed to check through his work for discounts on a cruise knowing discounts are only available close to sailing date. Guess what? Nothing available; back to the drawing board. We spent tons of time emailing options each had found remembering we already had tickets into a particular airport. What we ended up with was 4 days at the beach.

Never seem to regret days at the beach. Yes, we encountered sunburns as we always do, but we wore pjs or swimsuits for 4 days and just immersed ourselves in each others lives talking about schools, churches, work, and kids. (It had been 4+ yrs since the Mcs had moved away and these 3 families had spent any time together.)

This shot is another wonderful aspect of a beach vacation -- the men love to be in the kitchen. Lucky for us these men use cooking as a form of relaxation!

And the bonus - we got to meet the soon-to-be- boyfriend of ML.

Sorry, ladies, this is a horrible picture. I didn't have anything else. But at least you can see the happiness on our faces. (and the fact that we'd been using sunscreen)

I only have a few really bad pictures from these four days; they were really an afterthought. We realized after the whole thing was over that we'd not gotten a picture of the entire group. : (
