Tragedy avoided!
Brent decided that the annual leaf pile was not helping us grow any grass in the front yard, so he put the Kibosh on it this year. The kids had a mixture of emotions from anger to sadness to confusion. So, Brent left town for an 8 day "sabbatical" and Awesome Mom showed up to dispel the rumors of no leaf pile.
The day started out beautifully even though a bit chilly. I quickly warmed up with the blower on my back and all the activity. I moved leaves from the side yard toward the back because there was plenty of room in the playground area that is mulched so as not to kill any grass. And besides, there are plenty of leaves in the backyard too. There are more tress in the front, but they drop leaves at different times. So, for this time, there were lots of leaves to work with in the back. I worked all day while the kids were at school (with Bishop's help) and they chipped in when they got home.
Savannah had to measure to be sure the pile was big enough for us to stop raking.
Then it was time to start jumping!!
The beauty of moving the pile to the backyard was the added element of the playset. ; )
Luckily no one needed to go to the ER since Daddy wasn't there!!
Everyone had a bunch of fun and the grass all survived.
(Daddy got to use his new lawn tractor with the vacuum attachment to clear the leaf pile. Well, he used a tarp to clean that actually, but got to use the new toy on the rest of the yard. TWICE!!! Remember I said a few tress out front dropped their leaves at a different time - it was about 1 week after he'd cleaned the whole yard and hauled all the leaves to the recycle center.)
