A Finishing Touch

This is what the exterior of the house had looked like (except that we got grass and landscape) since we moved back home in January 2009. Many neighbors thought we were going with the no shutters look and commented that the house looked good.

Then last week, Viola! Presto, Chango, and we have a completely new look to our home.

We have no real reason for not getting shutters before now. I guess it was just the commitment of the whole thing -- measuring, remeasuring, verifying, special ordering, shelling out the cash, and installing. But alas, Brent said "go" and made it happen. The shutters took about 6 or so weeks to get and then Matt hung them in a couple of days. Now the neighbors are saying, "I see. It does look better."

Now, if we can just get something to grow in the shaded yard. Working on that this week - talking to tree trimmers and landscapers who can help us pick the items we need for our full shade yard and treat our apparently very unbalanced soil.
